What you'll be able to do:
The Autonomous Test Technician works at the Michigan Proving Ground in Romeo, Michigan and is responsible for the setup, operation, and management of autonomous test vehicles. You will:

  • Manually drive vehicles to support proving ground test procedures
  • Support the setup and teardown of autonomous test equipment
  • Maintain and perform daily inspections of autonomous equipment and vehicle
  • Observe and report vehicle characteristics with respect to functional performance and features
  • Support testing by moving and positioning vehicles for testing, fueling, and functional support
  • Understand, Install, and remove all hardware related to autonomous testing
  • Diagnose and trouble shoot simple mechanical and electrical issues related to equipment used for autonomous testing (actuators, connectors, linkages)
  • Communicate lessons learned with peers and lead implementation of autonomous corrective actions
  • Communicate testing status, issues, and issue resolution from shift to shift
  • Provide first level of electrical and mechanical diagnostics and problem solving
  • Support autonomous training requirements as required
  • Communicate test and vehicle issues to vehicle test coordinators
  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift pattern as well as overnight shifts
  • Ability to work in inclement weather

The minimum requirements we seek:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver's license - will be required to acquire Chauffer's endorsement prior to accepting an offer
  • Five or more years of driving experience

Our preferred requirements:
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • ASC certified mechanic or equivalent experience
  • A strong demonstration of mechanical and electrical diagnostics skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems - installation, troubleshooting, repair
  • 1+ years of experience driving a manual shift transmission
  • 1+ years of experience trail towing
  • Proficient in using MS Office (Excel, Word. Outlook)
  • Able and willing to learn new software applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills
