The DAT Software Product Development Team develops and delivers models and software for advanced features that make driving more exciting, enjoyable and sustainable, such as Blue Cruise and Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
What you'll be able to do:We are seeking a diligent, detail-driven professional to provide vital expertise in support of our Driver Assist Technologies Embedded Software Program Management activities. This involves applying Program Management principles, engineering principles, and analytical techniques in support of delivering the next generation of DAT ECU.
The Software Program Manager is responsible for managing the scope, schedule, cost, and software release activities of a software program. The PM is not solely responsible for these areas but is fully responsible to ensure the management of these areas occurs in a controlled manner. The PM will review job assignments and make adjustments based on status of workflow. Where possible, the PM may help resolve technical issues or, at a minimum, lead the forum where solution options are discussed and driven to a conclusion. Ideally the PM stays with the program for its life cycle from concept to production launch and on through post launch support. You will:

  • Provide technical software and program management leadership to a large and broad community of stakeholders; utilize strong leadership skills to advance the program
  • Own and coordinate the software development activities on the Ford Driver Assistance Technologies project per Ford's Product Development Processes
  • Ensure the on-time delivery of software features and lead the delivery of software artifacts into the production ecosystem with a high degree of quality
  • Create and execute program plans to support GPDS, Release Train, and Program increment timings for FNV4 Ford DAT programs utilizing waterfall and Agile methods
  • Maintain detailed program plans and program dashboards containing key performance indicators; Lead and manage the DAT 3.x software feature implementation plans
  • Provide direction to supplier Program teams, ensuring that supplier and Ford plans align. Ensure that Suppliers are executing program management practices that meet Ford expectations.
  • Review and track the progress of Ford and supplier teams against the Ford DAT work plan
  • Provide direction to engineering teams and project managers as required to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned to deliverables and deadlines
  • Understand the gives and gets from the different teams working on DAT3.x from both Ford and suppliers, and incorporate into work plan
  • Proactively organize stakeholders to mitigate risk and to generate recovery plans when needed
  • Proactively organize and drive meetings as necessary to ensure that Release Train and Program Increment goals and milestones are met
  • Utilize Program Management tools to assess program status, to manage risks, and to report progress to stakeholders
  • Contribute to process creation and improvement as required to build a best-in-class program team
  • Provide direction and mentorship to Projects Managers in the spirit of continuous improvement
The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Comp Sci, Electrical Eng or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in SW Program Management in an embedded technical software discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in the usage of industry standard project management tools for product development and delivery (MS Project or equivalent)
  • 3+ years' experience in the usage of the JIRA work management tool or equivalent for product development and delivery
Our preferred requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Controls Engineering
  • 10+ years' experience in SW Program Management in an embedded technical software discipline within the automotive domain
  • Ability to understand complex technical issues and to present adjusted levels of detail based on target audience
  • Project Management Professional certification or equivalent
  • SAFe Agilist certification or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle methodology
  • Understanding of Ford's product development processes, including software development and release requirements
  • Understanding of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
  • Deep knowledge of SAFe and Agile development methodologies as a practitioner
  • Extensive experience using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc), and GitHub source code management tool
  • Extensive experience using Confluence to develop/maintain rich content wiki pages
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities as a Program leader
  • Exceptional ability in obtaining results through collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds, with strong personality traits, and with divergent priorities
