Ford Government Relations is a global team that works to shape policy and legislation at all levels of government. Our team engages with elected officials and stakeholders to be part of the solution on key public policy issues. We also lead efforts to align Ford's external policy priorities and objectives with the needs of company business plans.

We are looking for committed, engaged, high-performing students to join our organization to help us connect with stakeholders.

Internships are project oriented and will ask candidates to demonstrate strategic thinking, problem solving and the ability to work within a team.We are looking for an intern in both Dearborn and Washington DC that will assist our teams.
  • State and Stakeholder Team- This Dearborn-based team helps shape policy and legislation in Michigan and Ford plant states, supporting advocacy at the local state and federal level. They also manage the GR relationship with dealers, suppliers and the Ford PAC.
  • Federal Team/International Team - Based in DC, our team advocates for legislative and regulatory policies that support Ford's business. It also engages with existing and new coalitions to align Ford's public policy positions, building support across all key stakeholders.

Ford's GR internship experience provides a unique perspective on the intersection of business and government policy. Internships will provide hands on experiences like:
  • Researching and generating briefing materials regarding policy and legislation
  • Helping create advocacy materials and Hill outreach
  • Engaging with Hill/State legislative members on key issues with Ford team
  • Planning and executing various events with key stakeholder groups
  • Representing Ford at meetings at the state and local level

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications Arts and Sciences
  • GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Expected graduation between the dates of December 2023 and September 2025
Nice to Have:
  • Understanding Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience with PowerPoint
  • Good time management skills and work ethic
  • Strong knowledge of digital and social media tools
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to multitask and jump between different topics/projects
