As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll support the team building the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.

What you'll be able to do:
You will serve in a key role within our Manufacturing area as you provide a wide range of occupational and clinical support. You will:

  • Adhere to requirements stipulated by overseeing physician and nursing licensure
  • Implement and execute medical policies, protocols and directives
  • Provide training as needed to employees and medical personnel
  • Compile and complete Plant and Corporate medical reports
  • Maintain nursing skill proficiency and CME requirements for licensure
  • Manage responsibilities in accordance Global Safety Operating System Standards
  • Handle provisions around medical, emergency and non-emergency care
  • Oversee medical referrals: appointments, notification and follow-up
  • Contact External Care providers
  • Oversee medical leaves (open, extend, close) and m edical examinations (surveillance, pre-placement, fitness for duty, return to work) as well as short term medical absences
  • Ensure medical equipment-calibration/maintenance and use
  • Schedule surveillance exams (including audios, PFT, vision testing and respiratory fit testing) and substance abuse testing
  • OSHA recordkeeping: create clinical records, maintain in compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Oversee accuracy of OSHA recordkeeping and remediate individuals with recordkeeping errors
  • Participate as part of multidisciplinary teams: ergonomics, safety, behavioral emergency
  • Act as case management lead
  • Direct and achieve Safety Performance Objectives
  • Act as lead on department scheduling and manage accordingly
  • Represent medical team in management forums
  • Ensure Health Operating System (HOS) audit is green on the R-Y-G scale
  • Interface with hourly and salaried employees, labor relations and HR personnel, safety, worker's compensation representative, supervisors, and UAW representatives
  • Provide Wellness Program oversight and:
    • Ensure all nurses are trained and prepared to execute the program
    • Order equipment, supplies and promotional giveaways
    • Develop annual objectives for Biometric Screening program and monitor year over year progress
    • Take biometric measurements, provide results explanation to employee(s) and document results
    • Pull aggregate reports to send to Corporate Medical and Benefits
    • Share best practices with senior nurses in other Ford medical facilities
    • Work a schedule of four days and one afternoon shift

The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current unrestricted nursing license in the state of Michigan
  • Five or more years of experience in critical care, emergency room and adult medical/surgical nursing
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified

Our Preferred Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Five or more years of experience in Occupational Health
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)
• Background in case management
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Trained in performing pulmonary function and audiometric testing
• Past tenure working in a unionized environment
• Experience with Microsoft Office to include (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
