What you'll be able to do:
XD Insights Directors lead the team through a journey of human-centered research to uncover insights that contribute to all phases of the experience design process. They champion the voice of the user and leverage inspiration to discover hidden opportunities.

  • Work across project teams to steward excellent outcome delivery
  • Work with experience design teams to help use methods such as field observation, analogous research, conversations with experts and extreme users, concept evaluation, and participatory design to explore the edge of what's possible in the now, near, and far timeframe
  • Push and inspire the teams in their use of new methods for research
  • Work with teams to synthesize research findings, unearth systems-level patterns and frameworks and make research findings relevant and actionable for design
  • Participate in design critiques with teams, providing guidance, coaching and constructive feedback in service of delivering world-class research
  • Define and guide teams in standards for research ethics
  • Maintain constant awareness of emerging talent needs in the craft of experience design research and work with the Senior team to fulfill those needs
  • Manage communication with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Invest in the growth of teams' research capabilities by supporting the learning and development of Experience Design Researchers and Designers learning more about our research process
  • Ensure that our design research capability is understood and accessible across different internal organizations
  • Accountable for research scope, process, content, and deliverables
  • Supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and skill development of the research team

The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Design or related field
  • 10+ years' qualitative research experience culminating in a sound ability to scope a research process, lead fieldwork, conduct interviews and do desk research
  • 6+ years' experience leading highly collaborative design teams in human-centered design

Our Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Design or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working closely with engineering teams on product and digital service delivery
  • Experience of designing and/or facilitating group collaboration workshops
  • Experience of using design thinking and/or human-centered design in a formal, in-person setting
  • Passionate about automotive and mobility industry.
