The Advance Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) program uses technology to solve the human problems of driving and make it safer, easier, and more enjoyable. Our Safety Electronics team designs and develops hardware, functional models, and software for best-in-class performance on features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist and 360 Camera Systems. The ADAS Development Tools and Calibration team supports all software development activities by providing the necessary tools to generate, test and calibrate ADAS features. What you will be able to do

Ford's ADAS team designs and develops platforms and systems that provide best-in-class behavior for features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist, and 360 Camera Systems.

This position pertains to the design and development of the architecture of the Environment Model, which comprises a set of functions which represent the external world. The Environment Model is a critical component of the ADAS platform. You will:

  • Work in a community of Model Based Systems Engineers, collectively developing Ford's next generation ADAS platform, leading in the focus of environment modeling
  • Utilize state of the art tools and methods to build a functional library, realized across multiple levels of abstraction, and allocated to structure
  • Produce activity diagrams, internal boundary diagrams, and other depictions of the system for consumption as single source of truth
  • Work with experts, function owners, and process coaches to ensure the architecture is fully traced to requirement and other elements
  • Work with feature owners and software architects to achieve traceability from the customer level, through the platform, and to the implementation
  • Work with supplier partners to align model elements and interfaces
The minimum requirements we seek
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a systems engineer (in automotive, aerospace, defense, or related industry)
  • 5+ years using systems modeling and/or requirements management tools (SysML/MagicDraw/Rhapsody, Polarion, DOORS, etc.)
Our preferred requirements
  • PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or a combination of education and equivalent eperience
  • 5+ years of experience as a systems engineer (in automotive, aerospace, defense, or related industry)
  • 5+ years of experience using systems modeling and/or requirements management tools (SysML/MagicDraw/Rhapsody, Polarion, DOORS, etc.)
  • Experience with modern ADAS and autonomous vehicle algorithms and environment modeling concepts
  • Experience releasing system models to vendors and customers
