What you will be able to do:
A career opportunity in the area of Product Development is now available for showcasing your knowledge, skills, and leadership. Hybrid powertrain controls software design engineers are responsible for delivering electrified vehicle products that are world class in cost, quality, function, and time to market.

You will learn about the heart of Ford's hybrid vehicle controls with k ey work areas for the team including developing C language-based software designs for Ford Electrified Powertrains. Plus interpret requirements and implement as C language software design for the Hybrid Vehicle system controller. Scope of software design includes core platform software including cyber security software, Over-The-Air flash, CAN multiplex, and Low-Level Driver, High Level Driver components supporting hybrid sub-systems. Vehicle applications include FHEV / PHEV power-split, Modular Hybrid Transmission (MHT), and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).

  • Design and develop C-language application software for base software platform features.
  • Evaluate and provide design for corporate embedded security requirements
  • Integrate and configure Vector or equivalent design for corporate over-the-air (OTA) flash requirements, corporate CAN Message Authentication (CMA), and corporate multiplex requirements.
  • Develop microprocessor software interface requirements for supplied modules for the Hybrid Control Unit functions.
  • Perform validation and integration of supplied Low Level Driver software. (LLDs)
  • Consult with suppliers regarding Primary Boot Loader and secondary boot loader requirements
  • Consult with suppliers regarding requirements for Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) and Keep-alive memory (KAM).
  • Perform testing of supplied controller boards
  • Maintain RTOS requirements
  • Complete hardware interface design reviews with eDrive department and suppliers

T he minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience with microprocessor architectures, associated low level software drivers and real-time embedded software design using C-programming language. A combination of education and equivalent experience would apply.

Our preferred qualifications :
  • MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience with Board support packages / low-level drivers and Real-time Operating Systems.
    • 2+ years of experience with software build process, including section maps and linker scripts.
    • 2+ years of experience with Microprocessor architecture and hardware / software interactions and Controller Area Network protocols.
  • 2+ years of experience with Infinion Aurix microcontroller architecture.
    • Software signing methods.
    • Interrupt processing and exception handling.
    • Cybersecurity methods, including message authentication.
    • Primary and secondary boot loaders, including secure boot considerations.
