External Description: We bring engineering ideas to life. In Product Development, we make driving more exciting, enjoyable, and sustainable. Ford's ADAS team designs and develops hardware and functional models that provide outstanding behavior for features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist and 360 Camera Systems.

We are seeking seasoned data science professionals who can contribute to our efforts with experience in the development of software, models, sensors, and ECUs. This position is passionate about feature development and analysis to ensure high quality feature deployment and robust software functionality. This could also involve other elements of the feature development process because we are seeking to add high quality people to the team rather than trying to squeeze engineers into a specific role.

Join our team as we create tomorrow! We believe in putting people first, working together, and facing challenges head-on, because we are Built Ford Tough. We are one team striving to make people's lives better while creating value, delivering excellence, and ultimately going for the win!

What you'll be able to do:

  • Lead data analysis to improve performance and robustness of ADAS features and create a world class driver experience.
  • Develop new data analysis methodologies to enable efficient use of large data.
  • Data mine scenarios to tag and organize stored data and improve real time logging with automatic event detection and determine important field data in real time.
  • Collaborate with feature teams, providing data driven solutions to reduce false positive and false negative events.
  • Process events from big data to recommend feature solutions through code improvement, calibration adjustments, neural nets, or other methods.
  • Lead development of analytical tools to quantify real world driving metrics.
  • Evaluate fleet drive heuristics to develop driver models to improve knowledge of driving behavior.
  • Work with Vision Ground Truth team to provide feature-based insights to integrate feature insights to sensor data validation.
  • Develop presentations for Management, Feature teams, and Quality teams to show feature robustness and indicate areas of improvement based on data analysis.
The minimum qualifications we seek:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of code development in Python or R (internships and coursework allowed)

Our preferred qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science or Statistics
  • 3+ years analyzing large data sets.
  • Experience working with remote high power compute clusters (Hadoop, Apache, Spark).
  • Experience working with data visualization tools (Tableau, QlikView).
  • Experience querying databases (SQL preferred).
What you'll receive in return:

As part of the Ford family, you'll enjoy excellent compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous PTO, retirement, savings and stock investment plans, incentive compensation and much more. You'll also experience exciting opportunities for professional and personal growth and recognition.
