What you'll be able to do: The Antenna Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading the requirements and developing antenna systems for specific RF functions. In this role you will play a key role in crafting the future of connected and autonomous vehicles at Ford Motor Company. In this position you will:

  • Lead the development and own RF requirements for specific functions such as AM/FM/DAB, GNSS, Satellite Radio, Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, C-V2X.
  • Own the development of antenna systems from concept to application-ready phase.
  • Evaluate antenna system performance through simulation and vehicle measurements.
  • Lead validation of antenna designs at component and vehicle level.
  • Ensure that the antenna development phases and deliverables are aligned to GPDS milestones.
  • Support research of sophisticated antenna designs for future communication systems and develop sourcing requirements for various technologies such as 5G NR, C-V2X, Ultra-wideband, etc.
  • Support antenna D&Rs and Tier 1 suppliers in delivering antenna solutions on time, with quality and within budget.
  • Build working relationships with Tier 1 partners and leverage their most sophisticated design and test centers.
  • Build working relationships with universities research centers supporting the automotive market.
  • Conduct competitive analysis of RF/Antenna systems (Technology, Product, Vehicle Segment, Market).
The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in antenna systems requirement development or antenna design using 3D, full-wave EM simulation tools such as HFSS, FEKO, CST, ADS, MATLAB, Simulink.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with antenna test equipment such as antenna chambers, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators, radio communication testers.
Our preferred requirements:
  • Master's degree/ PhD in Electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in any one of the following: antenna requirements development, antenna design and simulation, antenna test, wireless system design, wireless hardware design, wireless communications systems design and testing.
  • Experience in product development cycle in automotive industry.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills and strong background in Antennas and Wave Propagation theory.
  • Experience with antenna measurement systems.
  • Experience with EM simulation of antenna systems integrated into large structures such as automobiles, aircraft, etc.
  • Experience with RF design and simulation tools such as Keysight ADS, Genesys, etc.
  • Experience with data processing tools such as Matlab, Python, etc.
  • Good understanding of EMC principals in automotive applications.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements for automotive components.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies: 5G, C-V2X, MIMO, OFDM, HARQ, LTE/WCDMA/GSM, 802.11n/ac/ax/ad, GPS/GNSS, SDARS, Bluetooth/BLE.
  • High level of motivation, initiative, independence, and assertiveness.
