In the Ford Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team, we develop hardware and software that provide Best in Class features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist and 360 Camera Systems.
We are seeking a diligent, detail-driven architect to provide vital expertise in support of our Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Embedded Software Architecture activities. This involves applying engineering principles and analytical techniques in support of delivering the software architecture for next generation ADAS ECU. You will work within a team of software architects cross functionally with feature development and vehicle platform teams to define the overall software architecture for subsystems and components of the next generation ADAS platform.

What you'll be able to do:

  • Define embedded software architecture for design and implementation of middleware components for the next generation ADAS ECU platform.
  • Provide subject matter expertise related to POSIX (QNX, Linux HLOS) operating system based systems and software architecture to ensure a robust middleware development and implementation.
  • Collaborate with Research teams, ADAS feature owners and software architects to design, develop, and deliver middleware functions such as IPC, Communication protocols, etc.
  • Lead software architecture with the tier 1 supplier, tier 2 feature suppliers and internal feature owners for the new ADAS features.
  • Design, document and lead the architecture for strategic ADAS software functionality.
  • Develop requirements for the software architecture and cascade to the software developers.
  • Understand existing sophisticated architectures and drive resolution of architecture related issues.
  • Support the work of the software project manager to define and deliver architecture work products per the planned timelines.
  • Support overall embedded software integration.
  • Support the SW verification and validation teams to establish test strategies to achieve suitable coverage along the right side of the systems.

The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • 3+ year of experience developing on POSIX (Qnx or Linux) based operating systems in C/C++.
  • 3+ year of experience developing application framework and/or middleware components for POSIX HLOS based systems.
  • 3+ year of experience working on POSIX OS based system level design.

Our preferred requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Solid experience in architecting multi-threaded software architecture components.
  • Working knowledge of QNX hypervisor and IPC/inter domain communication and protocol implementation with other sub systems.
  • Experience defining software architecture and deriving requirements from system architecture and customer requirement.
  • Experience with object oriented, modular or distributed designs.
  • Experience with productivity tools (e.g. GIT, JIRA, Confluence, Polarian, MagicDraw, UML design tools)
  • Familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture for embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with Adaptive AUTOSAR standard
  • Familiarity with Functional Safety (ISO26262) specification.
