The Advance Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) program uses technology to solve the human problems of driving and make it safer, easier, and more enjoyable. Our Safety Electronics team designs and develops hardware, functional models, and software for best-in-class performance on features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist and 360 Camera Systems. The ADAS Development Tools and Calibration team supports all software development activities by providing the necessary tools to generate, test and calibrate ADAS features. This position focuses on developing the Advance Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) experiences and ensuring that those deliver on the customer's expectations. In this position, you will take the elements of exceptional ADAS experiences and distill the enablers down to discrete actionable items that will be deployed by the various technology and program teams. Simply, we seek to define "How It Works" for our customers. This requires close collaboration with various cross-functional teams such as Research, HMI, Design Studio, Enterprise Connectivity, D-Ford, and Marketing. You will develop and implement ADAS experience strategies using methods like Design Thinking and help visualize and story tell those experiences.

What you'll be able to do:

  • Design, develop and deliver innovative Driver Assist solutions for Ford products that would improve our customer satisfaction
  • Craft user journeys to demonstrate usefulness, usability, and desirability of features and experiences using a persona-centered approach
  • Research and test design hypotheses of interactions with various modalities, using both qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Create low to high fidelity models and prototypes for customer testing and management reviews
  • Assist with customer research preparation (task lists, discussion guides, screeners), interview respondents as necessary
  • Translate User Experience (UX) concepts into high-level requirements documents through the use of storyboard creation, journey mapping, wire framing, prototyping and competitive analysis
  • Cascade requirements to functional teams for new physical and digital features
  • Establish Feature Experience objectives through Human Center Design Approach and ensure feature meets the end-user/customer objectives

The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Human-Centered Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years engineering work experience or equivalent experience with Adobe suite, AXURE or iRise, Sketch, Flinto, card sorting, storyboarding, ethnography, prototyping, usability testing, sketching, wireframe creation, journey mapping in Automotive environments
  • 2+ years of experience in product design (must have a portfolio)
  • 2+ years of experience in user testing, user experience or interface design

Our preferred requirements:
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Industrial Design, Human-Centered Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • Strong sense of customer empathy, problem identification and resolution
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, Agile process
  • Passion for User Experience and Customer-Centered Design
  • Ability to translate abstract concepts into actionable items for implementation
  • Excellent teamwork, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills required
  • Ability to present findings and POV effectively with senior management and other organizations
  • Passion for engineering and product excellence
  • Comfortable working on changing demands and early vehicle program work and technologies
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal direction; comfortable with changing environment of early Program work
  • Ability to create lo-fidelity prototypes with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, 3D Printing, Prototyping Software
  • Comfortable working on both electrical and mechanical projects
  • Willingness to learn new tools to continuously improve skillsets
