The Experience Design (XD) Team is responsible for the digital and physical design of new businesses, new products, and new services in emerging areas such as autonomous vehicles, mobility services, and commercial vehicle services. We are looking for creative individuals to join us and help further the vision and mission of D-Ford's XD team. What you'll be able to do:
The XD Strategy Director will lead cross-functional project teams (from inception through piloting), owning a specific focus area (E.g. Shop & Buy) within our end-to-end portfolio. You will lead the strategic direction for your team's scope. You will uncover customer, business and technology opportunities and guide project teams to realize that vision as they ideate, visualize, and prototype our future customer experience. You take a holistic approach to experience design that begins with the customer and rapidly iterates solutions to develop experiences that are delightful to use, technically feasible, strategically aligned to desired business outcomes, and viable at scale.

You are a strategic leader and a natural collaborator who brings multidisciplinary teams together to set and drive a vision forward. You will partner cross-functionally across Ford, inclusive of CX, Marketing, Technology, Program Management, and key business units. This role will be responsible for ensuring business strategy is translated into innovative experiences that solve problems and delight users. You'll develop and communicate program plans, keeping leaders informed and aligned, and provide timely updates on the state and status of the assigned portfolio.

You're ruthless at prioritization and focused on creating the best possible experiences that are strategically aligned and sequenced. You are exceptionally well versed in the practice of modern product and experience creation. You can take a complex and ambiguous opportunity space and lead a team in the right direction. You are an exceptional storyteller. You are innovative, curious, experimental, and always thinking about the human on the other end of the design.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 8+ years' experience director or sr. management in product, design, or strategy
  • 5+ years' experience leading highly collaborative teams
Our preferred requirements:
  • A portfolio full of beautiful, usable products and/or services that span digital and physical touch-points.
  • Familiarity with human-centered design methodologies with a rapid iterative process
  • A track record of building and managing teams
  • Ability to explain and articulate the connection from research to design decisions through storytelling and effective presentations
  • Able to effectively manage both your's and other's time alongside project deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Design acumen: ability to understand how creative professionals work, their needs and mindset, and to think creatively with high foresight
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as cross-functional team leadership and strategic planning
  • Obsession with the quality of what gets launched
  • Highly collaborative and eager to participate
